Benchmark Litigation Top 25 Women 2018

Singleton Urquhart Reynolds Vogel LLP (Singleton Reynolds) is pleased to announce that Benchmark Canada has named Sharon Vogel as one of the Top 25 Women in Litigation for 2018.

The award is based on Benchmark’s extensive research process, which encompasses six months of investigation into individual litigators’ professional activities as well as client feedback surveys and individual interviews.

“These women have earned their place amongst the leading female litigators by participating in some of the most impactful litigation matters in recent history as well as by earning the hard-won respect of their peers and clients,” reads the Benchmark Canada website.  “Though they hail from widely different practice areas, they all share the distinction of being recognized as top players in their respective fields.”

“This is a group of extraordinary lawyers,” said Vogel. “I’m honoured to be among them.”

Sharon was previously named by Canadian Lawyer Magazine as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada for 2017: “Sharon is a leading voice and changemaker in construction law. She is authoritative, engaged and dedicated”. She was nominated again for 2018 and has been repeatedly ranked at the top of her field by such reputable organizations as Who’s Who InternationalLexpert Leading LawyersChambers CanadaALM 500 and Best Lawyers.

“Sharon’s dedication to her clients and to mentoring and supporting our up-and-coming lawyers says a lot about her dedication to the practice of law,” said Managing Partner John Singleton. “She continually sets the bar for excellence and it’s a pleasure to work elbow-to-elbow with such a thoughtful and experienced lawyer.”

Earlier this year Benchmark Litigation  named Singleton Reynolds’ Canadian Construction Law Firm of the Year for 2018.

Vogel has been practising construction and infrastructure law for over 25 years and is perhaps best known for her more recent work as Co-Counsel for the Ontario Government in conducting a review of Ontario’s Construction Lien Act and delivering a report with 101 recommendations, 98 of which were eventually adopted and became the basis for Bill 142, An Act to Amend the Construction Lien Act. Subsequently, Vogel and Partner Bruce Reynolds were retained by the federal government to review prompt payment and adjudication in the federal context in Canada.
